View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Jose F. deMelo, 67, died suddenly on Saturday, June 14, 2008, in the New England Medical Center in Boston, after being stricken ill at his home, and subsequently transferred to Boston from Morton Hospital. Born in St. Michael, the Azores, the son of the late Fernando and Maria (Fagundo) deMelo, he was the loving husband of Maria (Pereira) deMelo.
A Taunton resident for thirty-four years, Mr. deMelo was well known for being a very generous, kind and giving man. He was employed as a machine operator for the Crown Wire Co. in Taunton for more than twenty-eight years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and making his own wine from his own grapes.
Besides his wife, he was the loving father of Delia Ives and her husband Timothy of Falmouth, Carla Bianchi and her husband Michael of Taunton, and Kelly deMelo of Taunton; and the very loving grandfather of Molly and Ella Ives of Falmouth, and Madison and Mikayla Bianchi of Taunton.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Friday, June 20, 2008, at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony’s Church at 10:00AM. Interment will follow the funeral liturgy in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 19, from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
