Barbara (Weeden) Davol, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, in the Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of Thomas A. Davol, Jr.
Born in Somerset, a daughter of the late Robert H. Weeden and the late Doris (Barton) Weeden, she lived all of her life in town, and worked as a elementary school teacher in Swansea and Somerset for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1998.
Barbara had a lifelong devotion to church, having been a member of the United Methodist Church, in Somerset, for many years, as well as active with the United Parish of Fall River and more recently the Church of Our Saviour of Somerset.
She enjoyed working in her gardens, quilting, reading, singing, going for walks, and spending time in Chatham on the Cape. She most especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter Sarah Cooper and her wife Morgan of Peterborough, NH; a son, Tom Davol of Summerville, SC; a brother Robert B. Weeden of B.C., Canada; three sisters, Ruth W. Anderson of Duxbury, Janet W. Howe of Wilmot, NH, and Ann W. Franklin of Tryon, NC; six grandchildren, Jovana, Kalena and Noah Cooper, Alicia Macomber and her husband Joe, Amanda and Abigail Davol.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 8th, in Church of Our Saviour, 2112 County St., Somerset, at 11AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Other arrangements held privately with the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, Somerset.
