NEW BEDFORD–Robert J. Maclean, 48, of New Bedford, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in New Bedford. Born Middleboro, the son of the late Norman and the late Anna (Gerard) Maclean, he lived most of his life in New Bedford.

Mr. Maclean worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed helping people and was an advocate for the homeless.

He is survived by his companion, Bernice Hubbard of New Bedford; a son, Aaron Costa of New Bedford; a brother, Joseph Maclean of Freetown; a sister, Mary Ellis of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
