Frances L. Jenkins Oliver

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA – Frances L. Jenkins Oliver, 82, of Gentle Valley Drive, North Dartmouth, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009, at home. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Milton and Helen (Kennedy) Jenkins, she was the wife of the late George Oliver.

Mrs. Oliver graduated from New Bedford High School and was employed in many retail stores in the Downtown New Bedford area. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a volunteer in her children’s school library and classroom, and later in life, she and her husband George spent many enjoyable afternoons caring for their two grandchildren, visiting the Dartmouth Children’s Museum and swimming in the family pool. She was an accomplished artist and studied under Louis Sylvia. A member of Smith Mills Congregational Church, she loved her family, close friends, pets, listening to U2 music, drives to Horseneck Beach and shopping in Hyannis and Newport, RI, with her daughter.

She leaves a daughter, Judith Lavoie and her husband Normand of Fairhaven, MA; a son, Michael Robert Oliver and his wife Dawn of Sarasota, Florida; two grandchildren, Nolan Robert Lavoie and Caitlin Helen Lavoie; and her goddaughter, Joann Amaral. Mrs. Oliver was the sister of the late Robert Jenkins.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 30, 2009, at 12:30PM at Smith Mills Christian Congregational Church, 11 Anderson Way, N. Dartmouth.
