Anibal Henriques, 85, of Fairhaven died Friday, January 5, 2006 surrounded by his family after a long illness in St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Antonio A. and the late Maria J. (Fernandes) Henriques, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.

Mr. Henriques worked for the Town of Fairhaven Department of Public Works for many years. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Post 166 in Fairhaven and the Rex Club in New Bedford. He enjoyed socializing with his friends at Honey Dew in Fairhaven and gardening and spending time in his yard.

He is survived by a sister, Emily Robichaud of Fairhaven; a brother, John Henriques of New Bedford; four nephews, Stephen, Paul, Scott and Chris Robichaud and a niece Brenda Henriques. Mr. Henriques was the brother of the late Adelia Henriques.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven. Interment with military honors will be in Pine Prove Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are Monday from 4-8 PM.
