Manuel F. De Costa

EAST TAUNTON – Manuel F. De Costa, 86, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton following a period of failing health. Born in Tiverton, RI, the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Vincent) De Costa, he was the husband of Norma (Howes) De Costa. He was educated in the Tiverton (RI) Public Schools.

Mr. De Costa was employed as a woodworker by the former Cape Dory Yacht Co. in East Taunton. He also worked for the Newport Housing Authority as a maintenance man and worked for Bill Chickeran in Raynham building homes. He was a member of the North Raynham Congregational Church, now the Agape Chapel. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in WW II. He was a member of the VFW in Taunton.

In addition to his wife, Mr. De Costa is survived by a daughter, Faith Ann De Costa of Taunton; and a son, Keith De Costa and his wife Thelma of Taunton. He was the father of the late Manuel De Costa, Jr., and the late Russell De Costa. He was the grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of four. He was the uncle of several.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held on Friday, August 2, 2007, at 10:00AM in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton. Interment will follow in the Mayflower Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
