View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Pete Whalon, 50, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, in Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts, after a period of failing health. Born in Taunton, the son of Sandra (DeCastro) Slaney, he was a 1977 graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School.
He attended the University of New Hampshire after spending twenty years in the U. S. Navy. He was stationed in Cuba, California, and Virginia, and retired at the U. S. Navy Base in Brunswick, ME. He served on the USS Midway, the USS Coral Sea and on the USS Wasp, all air craft carriers. Upon retirement, he was employed by the U. S. Navy at the recreational facilities at Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine for the past ten years.
Besides his mother of Taunton, Pete was the father of Korin Whalon of Topsham, ME, Sandra Whalon of Milford, NH, and Kyle and Ryan Whalon, both of Brunswick, ME. He was the grandfather of Makayla, Jaimez, Madison, Landan and Alana. Pete was also the brother of Cheryl Perry of Taunton, Kim Koss of Taunton and Heidi Tremblay of Dighton. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins and was the former husband of Tracey (Stevens) Whalon of Maine.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Saturday, April 17, 2010, 11:00am in the Winthrop Street Baptist Church, 39 Winthrop St., Taunton.
