Oscar H. Lapalme, 85 of Main St Acushnet , died Sunday at the South Eastern Massachusetts Rehabilitation Center in New Bedford. He was the husband of Constance ( Lainey) Lapalme. He was a Pressman for the Acushnet Company Rubber division for 43 years before retiring in 1982. He had been a Shipfitter 3rd class for the US NAVY on board the USS Parker for over 3 years. He was a lifelong resident of Acushnet. A parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, where he was actively involved with the church and its functions such as the St Francis Catholic mens Club, a member of the St Francis Xavier School Building Fund. An avid sports fan , he enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. He had been a member of Acushnet Youth Athletic Association. Besides his wife he is survived by a son David Lapalme of North Dartmouth, a sister Yvonne Martel, and two grandchildren, Sienna and Zachary Lapalme, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George Lapalme and also the late Irene Parent. Funeral InformationA mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 9:00am in St Francis Xavier Church, 125 Main St Acushnet, burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
