View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Joseph R. " Red" Klebes, 84, died Tuesday November 14 2006, at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the husband of Marjorie L. ( Waterman) Klebes. He was born May 28 1922, in Attleboro a son of the late Joseph L & Cora Beatrice ( Salley) Klebes.
For the last 8 years he and his wife Marjorie lived in West Dennis, prior to that they lived in Attleboro. Mr. Klebes was a Naval Fighter Pilot , he retired from the Navy as a full Lieutenant, after serving 21 years on active duty and then as a reservist.
His love for the outdoors led to his opening a hunting and fishing store in Attleboro in 1947. For the next 40 years he operated a sporting goods store in Attleboro ending with a Ski Shop named Klebes Ski Barn on route 1 in Attleboro, an he sold that shop in July of 1987.
He loved to trade Hunting, Fishing, and Skiing stories with his many customers. Many of which became lifelong friends. He shared his love for retailing with his wife and children, who all worked in the store.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years , Marjorie and his four loved and loving children, Janice Morse ( her husband Steve) , Joyce Klebes, Joan Klebes, and Dana Klebes. He was very fortunate to be able to enjoy times with his four grandchildren, Neil Morse( his wife Erin) Lisa Morse ( her husband Steve) Katharine Klebes, and Danielle Klebes. One great grandchild Jack Morse, brought him joy in the gift of childhood.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held Sunday December 3 2006 at 1:00pm in the Second Congregational Church, 50 Park St Attleboro, burial will be private. Arrangements by the COOK - HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 160 PARK ST., ATTLEBORO, MA.
