Ruth (Golden) Wescott, of Robeson St., Fall River, formerly of Abbey Lane, Somerset, passed away Friday, November 11, 2005, in the Fall River Jewish Home. She was the wife of the late Ralph C. Wescott, to whom she was married on July 22, 1947. Born on March 28, 1911, in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late William and Nellie (McIntyre) Golden. She worked as a teacher for the town of Somerset for over 37 years, at the Pottersville Elementary School. She was awarded the Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America in 1972. She was a longtime member of the Union United Methodist Church in Fall River. She enjoyed antiques, needlepoint, traveling to Maine, playing cribbage, and tending to her rose garden. Her greatest rewards in life were instilling children with the desire to learn. Throughout her life she unofficially continued teaching all those who crossed her path in her own delightful way. Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Gilbert of Coventry, RI., several nieces and nephews including, Andrew Golden Jr., and his wife Paula, Carol Golden, Lillian Bolton, and her husband Robert, Ruth Simcock, and her husband, Richard, and David Gilbert. Many great- nieces and great-nephews, in Massachusetts and Maine, Amanda MacDonald, and her husband, Scott, Jessica Linnehan, and her husband Gary, Billy Golden Jr., and Kristen, Ellen Bolton, Ricky Golden, and his friend Amy, Jimmy Golden, and his wife Helen, Jason Simcock and his wife Bonnie, Dawn Ledoux, and her husband Paul, and 5 great-great nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Andrew Golden, Daniel Golden, and aunt of the late Billy Golden and Jessica Simcock. Funeral InformationHer memorial service will be Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Union United Methodist Church, 600 Highland Ave., Fall River.
