Rudolf E. Backlund

Rudolf Emil Backlund, 82 years, died in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro on June 1, 2006. He was born in Providence, RI son of the late Emil Backlund and the late Ingrid Backlund Petteson. He was a graduate of East Providence High School. He was married to the late Dorothy (Saunders) Backlund for 55 years and has been married for four years to Ann (Westcott) Backlund of Rehoboth. Mr. Backlund founded the R.E. Backlund Insurance Agency ( now Farrell Backlund Insurance) in 1959 with his late wife, Dorothy. During recent years during his retirement he enjoyed wintering in Long Boat Key, Florida with family and friends. He was member of Seggregansett Country Club, Taunton where he played golf. He also enjoyed gardening. In addition to his wife Ann he is survived by his daughter Claudia Mahoney and her husband Daniel of Osterville and his son Don Backlund and his wife Janice of Dighton, his grandchildren Abby Backlund, Megan and Neil Mahoney; his step children Cynthia Veader, Sharon and Gerry Hyatt and Frank and DeDe Westcott all of Rehoboth and nine step grandchildren.

Funeral Information

A Memorial Service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held in the Rehoboth Congregational Church, Bay State Road, Rehoboth on June 15, 2006 at 11AM. Visiting hours are omitted and interment is private.
