FAIRHAVEN – Joseph Norman Habicht, 92, of laurel St., Fairhaven, died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Henry P. & Julienne (Bertrand) Habicht, he was the husband of Marguerite (Sylvia) Habicht, with whom he shared a marriage of more than forty-six years.

Mr. Habicht was employed as an Electronic Technician for many companies before retiring. He was also a U. S. Army Veteran, serving his country during WWII, as a printer and as an Infantryman. He was a lifelong Fairhaven resident.

He was a member of the Unitarian Memorial Church in Fairhaven, a 33rd Degree Mason, and very involved in the Masonic organization, as well as his church. Mr. Habicht was also a Boy Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed gardening, quahogging, and fishing.

Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by a stepson, Myles Tillotson & his wife Gayle Whittle of Oreland, PA; a stepdaughter Jane Jones and her husband Robert of Fairhaven; and a niece and godchild, Pamela DePina and her family. He was the stepgrandfather of Andrew and Corey Jones of Fairhaven. He was also the brother of the late Henry Raymond Habicht.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family during calling hours Tuesday, August 10, 2010, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, MA.
