NEW BEDFORD – Walter Longwell Harrison, 61, of New Bedford, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, after a long illness. He was the husband of Nancy R. (Bennett) Harrison. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John L. and the late Evelyn (Longwell) Harrison, he grew up in Fairhaven and had lived in New Bedford many years. He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and Bristol Community College. Mr. Harrison worked many years in the construction field, as a rehab specialist for the City of New Bedford, and also owned his own modular home company. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in New Bedford. Walter enjoyed answering questions on Jeopardy. He especially loved his daughters and granddaughters and was very proud of their accomplishments and attended all of their events. He loved them more than anything. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife, Mr. Harrison leaves his daughters, Gina and Chelsea of New Bedford and Christine of Lakeville; a granddaughter, Jaelyn; a brother, John L. Harrison, Jr., and his wife Candace of Framingham; two sisters, Maureen Charlebois and her husband Michael of Attleboro, and Kathleen Mullett and her husband Michael of West Bridgewater; a brother-in-law, Robert Martin of Easthampton, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Harrison was predeceased by his sister Margaret Martin. Funeral InformationHis funeral will be held Monday, April 28, 2008, at 9:00AM from THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 10:00AM in St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, New Bedford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 27, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
