Albertina (Medeiros) Vieira

NEW BEDFORD – Albertina (Medeiros) Vieira, 77, of Dartmouth, died at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford on Saturday, January 19, 2008, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John Vieira.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antone and the late Mary (Cordeiro) Albino, she lived most of her life in the city before moving to Dartmouth twelve years ago. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth.

Mrs. Vieira was a medical secretary at Nichols House Nursing Home and later retired from the staff of Blair House Nursing Home. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors and the Dartmouth Seniors Council on Aging. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips with various senior groups, and cherished spending time with her children, Peggy Ann Vieira and her companion, John Gagne of Hillsboro, NH, Diane Ferreira and her husband Frank of Acushnet, and Donna Willett and her husband Robert of Milford, NH. She treasured most of all her time with her grandchildren, Jodi Sherman, Jason Darwell and Arianna and Taylor Willett, and her great-grandson, Lucas Sherman.

Mrs. Vieira was the mother of the late Michael J. Vieira and John M. Vieira.

Funeral Information

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours and a private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family.
