Jacqueline A. (Santerre) Chace

Jacqueline A. (Santerre) Chace, 81, of Swansea, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Catholic Memorial Home, in Fall River. She was the wife of Herbert E. Chace.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Eugene and Philomena (Levesque) Santerre, she lived all of her life in Swansea and had worked as a clerk for RA Wilcox Paper Supply Co. from 1955-58 and then as a baker and cafeteria worker in the Swansea School System as well as the Diman Regional Vocational High School for 18 years, retiring in 1984.
Jackie had a lifelong devotion to her family and husband of 61 years. She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church formerly, Our Lady of Fatima, in Swansea. She is known for her beautiful flower gardens at their home on Elm Street as well as for her exceptional cooking.
Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Chace) Gardner and her husband Philip of Suwanee, GA; a son, Dr. Donald H. Chace and his wife Nancy (Clay) of Swansea; three granddaughters, Lt. Avery C. Gardner, USN, Dana A. Gardner and Jessica A. Chace; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 6 sisters, Irene Desruisseaux, Beatrice Lamontagne, Blanche Bacon, Elizabeth Gagne-Squillace, Theresa Sevigny and Pauline Berube; and five brothers, all who survived WWII, Roland, Rene, Gerald, Lucien and Raymond Santerre.
The family will be receiving visitors Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 8:30-10:30am, in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Swansea.
