View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Arthur E. Harwood, 88, of Fairhaven passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 65 years to Edith M. (Robbins) Harwood.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Wilson) Harwood, he settled in Fairhaven in 1948. Mr. Harwood served in the Navy during WWII and later worked as an oil burner serviceman for Park Oil Company for many years until his retirement at age 62. He loved music and singing and sang with the Harpoon Harmonizer’s for many years.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Joyce Ramos and her husband Eric of Rochester; a son, Alan Harwood and his wife Merilyn of West Wareham; a brother James Harwood and his wife Louise of New Bedford; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a great, great grandson.
Funeral Information
In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 12:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven.
