View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SWANSEA– Jadwiga C. (Koziarz) Kunkle., 80, of Swansea passed away on Saturday October 25, 2008. She was the wife of the late Kenneth M. Kunkle. Jadwiga was born in Poczajow, Poland, the daughter of the late Franciszek and Irena (Bonder) Koziarz. She was a World War II and concentration camp survivor, who along with her mother and sister were captured by the Russians in 1940 and sent to a Russian concentration camp in Syberia. They were moved to concentration camps in Iran, India, and Africa. While in Africa Jadwiga graduated high school. After the war had ended, in 1948, Jadwiga and her family moved to England and finally reunited with her father that was serving in the Polish Army. They immigrated to Canada and the United States in 1952. She attended Bristol Community College in Fall River. Mrs. Kunkle employed over the years for Girard Typewriter Company, bookkeeeper for Swan Finishing Company, Falvey Linen and HP Leasing Company, retiring in 1993. Survivors are three daughters Cynthia K. Radcliffe of Palm Bay, FL, Diana D. Hopkins of Hope, RI, Natasha D. Jordan of Palm Bay, FL, three sisters Wanda Dziadek and Aleksandra Forkey both of South Hadley, MA, Helen Fontaine of Chicopee, MA five grandchildren: Jason Arcand of San Diego, Athena and Ariel Jordan, Sean and Chase Radcliffe.
Funeral Information
Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 9am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, 530 Garnders Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
