View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – George F. Silva, 86, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, in the Longmeadow of Taunton Nursing Home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late George and Ruth (Doyle) Silva, attended the Taunton Public Schools, and worked on his family farm.
On Nov. 8, 1952, he married Lorraine (Medas) Silva and together they have two sons, Steven Silva of Tampa, FL, and Lawrence Silva and his wife Sandy of Lisbon, CT. He was a very caring and loving dad to both of them. George served in both the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Coast Guard. He saw active duty in both WW II and Korean Wars.
Following his military service, Mr. Silva worked for more than twenty-four years at the former Paul A. Dever State School before retiring. George was a avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed camping with his family and many friends.
Besides his wife and sons, he is survived by two grandchildren, Kaylie and Jeremy Silva; and a sister and brother, Ruth Dennen and Charles Silva, respectively; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Louise Flint.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Monday, July 27, 2009, from 10:00AM to 12:00Noon in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, following which a graveside service will be held in the Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton at 1:00PM.
