FALL RIVER – Rose (Feder) Juda, 85, of Belmont Street, Fall River, died on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Mrs. Juda came to Fall River in 1939 with her parents and has resided in the city for the past sixty-five years. Born in Vienna, Austria, the daughter of the late Adolph and Bertha (Rheinisch) Feder, she was the wife of the late Erwin Juda.

Mrs. Juda was educated in Vienna and also at the BMC Durfee High School in Fall River. She worked for the former Anderson Little Company, and then enrolled in the Fall River Beauty Academy, where she earned her hairdresser’s license. She then opened her own hairstyling salon, the “Rose Feder Beauty Center,” in Fall River, which she owned and operated for twenty-three years before retiring in 1983.

Mrs. Juda was the past president of Westall School PTA, the Fall River Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary, the Fall River Hadassah, the Temple Beth El Sisterhood, and the Department of Massachusetts Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary. She was the first woman to serve as president of the Jewish Community Council, and was a past president of Temple Beth El in Fall River. She was also the past treasurer of the Ladies Helping Hand Society, and the Bulletin Chair for the Brandies University National Women’s Committee, a volunteer in the emergency room at Charlton Memorial Hospital, the American Red Cross headquarters and the Blood Bank.

She leaves a daughter, Joyce I. Juda of Providence, RI; a son, Rabbi Allen I. Juda and his wife Toby K. Juda of Bethlehem, PA; and three grandchildren, Adam, Aaron, and Tamar.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 1:00PM in Temple Beth El, 385 High Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
