Milford, NH – Samuel E. Barratt, 78, of Bridge Street, Milford, NH, and formerly of Stuart, FL, Fall River and Swansea, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, in the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, NH, after an illness. He was married for fifty-five years to the late Wilma S. (Hathaway) Barratt. Born in Exeter, NH, he was a son of the late Samuel Barratt and the late Helena (Rostron) Barratt. During WWII and the Korean War, he served in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service he went on to work for the former Fall River Electric Light Company, Nationwide Insurance, and became a commercial lighting salesman for the General Electric Company, where he was employed for sixteen years. At the conclusion of their more traditional careers, he and Wilma took up the work of condominium management, variously overseeing facilities first on St. Croix and then in Florida. He was a member of Pioneer Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Somerset and a long time member of the V.F.W. He is survived by a daughter, Dale Castanino of Milford, NH; a sister, Arlene Vallier of Stuart, FL; a grandson, Christopher Cieto of Nashua, NH; and a granddaughter, Lisa Gartner of Merrimack, NH; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral InformationA memorial service, with funeral ark, will occur on Friday, May 25, 2007, at 10:00AM in the HATHAWAY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA. Visitation will precede the service from 9:00-10:00AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment of the cremated remains will follow the service at the Gibbs Cemetery in Somerset.
