Nancy C. Doyle
February 13, 2017
Nancy C. Doyle, 85 of Wrentham, formerly of Taunton, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Pond Home, a few weeks shy of her 86th birthday. She was born in Taunton, the only child of Herbert and Mildred (Sylvander) Doyle.
Nancy attended Taunton Schools where she was a popular and outstanding student. She started to hone her writing skills there as chief editor of the high school newspaper and editor of the Yearbook. Ms. Doyle went on to Boston University where she earned a B.A. degree (with Phi Beta Kappa honors) and then to Wellesley College for her M.A. degree (with Sigma Xi honors). After graduation Nancy moved to New York City where she worked for the American Lung Association in public relations and research. This was in the 1960’s so Nancy was very involved and was a strong advocate of the association's anti-smoking campaign. Ms. Doyle wrote articles and spoke on behalf of this national organization until she retired in 1986. Nancy loved living in New York City. She took full advantage of all that the city offered, enjoying theatre, concerts, and developed close friendships. In her free time she loved to travel and visited such places as London, Scotland, France and Ireland.
Nancy returned to Taunton after her retirement to care for her parents. There she worked as a consultant to the Lung Association in Walpole, wrote articles for the Taunton Gazette and got reacquainted with old friends. Nancy was bright, vibrant, inquisitive and a great conversationalist. She had a wide variety of interests. She was an active member of the Old Colony Historical Society and was a conservationist with membership in organizations such as the Taunton Watershed Alliance. Ms. Doyle was an accomplished pianist and tennis player. She wrote poetry and fiction but never sought out publication of these. She will be missed.
All Funeral Services for Ms. Doyle will be private.
All Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, Taunton.
