James G. Telles

James G. Telles, 85, of Fairhaven died Monday, May 1, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the widower of Hilda (Roderigues) Telles and long time loving companion of Mary Lunny. Born December 25, 1920 in New Bedford the son of the late Alexander and Maria (Gouveia) Telles, he was a life long resident of the area and a communicant of St. Mary's Church, New Bedford.

Mr. Telles proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He received a Bachelor's degree in engineering and worked as an electronics engineer. He was Vice-President of Superior Welding in Fairhaven, he worked for Sippican and was very proud to have worked for NASA. Mr. Telles was very involved with the Madeira Club and helped to run the Feast every year. He also loved his computer.

He is survived by his beloved companion; a daughter, Joyce Chenette of Aushnet; two sisters, Mary Durst of West Roxbury and Lillian King of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Julie and Richard Chenette of Acushnet. He was the brother of the late Gilda Cormier and Linda Braz.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 8:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, New Bedford. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are Wednesday 5-8 PM.
