TAUNTON – Doris M. (Field) Reed, 92, the wife of the late William R. Reed, former publisher of the Taunton Daily Gazette, died on Monday, September 24, 2007, in Taunton. Born in North Easton, the daughter of the late Burton and Sarah Jane (Waldron) Field, Mrs. Reed lived most of her life the Taunton area, but did live Plymouth, MA, and Lewiston and Bowdoinham, ME, for a period of time.

Mrs. Reed graduated with the Class of 1933 of Oliver Ames High School in Easton. She attended the First Parish Church in Taunton and was a member of the Old Colony Historical Society. A homemaker, she enjoyed road trips, square dancing, gardening, crocheting and reading.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Zilch of Taunton; and a son, William F. Reed and his wife Patricia of Bowdoinham, ME. She was the grandmother of six and a “Special Grammy” to six great- grandchildren. She was the sister of Lois Reed of Raynham and the late Burton Field, Jr., and George Field; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Funeral and interment services will be held at the convenience of the family.
