View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Louis J. Ladebauche, 92, died at his home Tuesday, September 15, 2009, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Taunton to Elizabeth (Robert) Ladebauche, who was born in St-Damien-de-Brandon, Quebec, Canada, and Ozario Ladebauche who was born in Slatersville, RI, he was the husband of the late Marion (O’Connor) Ladebauche.
Louis was a WW II veteran of the U. S. Army, a former member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks #150 and a former member of the Taunton Fish and Game Club. Prior to entering the Army, he worked at the torpedo station in Newport, RI. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he owned and operated his own Amoco service station on the corner of Leonard and School Streets, across from the Central Fire Station, for seventeen years. He then began a twenty-year career as the Master Mechanic for the City of Taunton Fire Department.
He enjoyed hunting, bowling and playing cards prior to retirement. He then also took up golf and achieved four holes-in-one at the Buccaneer Par 3 Course in Raynham. When a doctor asked him earlier this year what was the secret for his longevity he replied, “You have to have a sense of humor, never tell any damn lies to anyone, and stay away from politicians.” Louis will be lovingly remembered for his love of family, his honesty and his great sense of humor.
He leaves three children, James E. Ladebauche and his wife Anke of Mallorca, Spain, Paul B. Ladebauche and his wife Susan of Garland, TX, and Louise Ladebauche Glass of Taunton. Louis was the one of ten children, and his sister Pauline Baran, of Raynham, survives him. His maternal grandfather, Olivier Robert, made dry good deliveries to Lizzie Borden, after she was acquitted, the only employee at his company who wasn’t afraid to go near her house. Louis is also survived by ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and friends.
