View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SOMERSET – John J. Jackson Sr., 83, of Somerset, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Thomas J. and Margaret (McGuinness) Jackson, he was the husband of Stella (Pendrak) Jackson, with whom she shared fifty-three years of marriage .
Mr. Jackson graduated with the Class of 1942 from BMC Durfee High School. After graduating, he served his country during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge, with the United States Army 168th Combat Engineers. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Jackson worked for the United States Postal Service at the main branch in Fall River for thirty-nine years.
Beside his wife, Mr. Jackson leaves three sons, Paul M. Jackson of Somerset, John J. Jackson, Jr., of Seekonk, and James J. Jackson of Somerset; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Thomas J. Jackson and brother of the late Thomas Jackson and Margaret Ochwat.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 9:00AM in Saint Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial with military honors will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
