View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Clotilde (Victorino) Canto, 91, of New Bedford died Monday, March 6, 2006 in the Sacred Heart Home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late John S. Canto.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary (Medeiros) Victorino, she lived in Fairhaven most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.
Mrs. Canto was a stitcher for 50 years in the garment industry retiring from States Nitewear in New Bedford. She enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Pauline and her husband Patrick of W. Wareham and Janice M. Vinci and her husband Gerald of New Bedford; a brother, Abel Victorino of Fairhaven; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Canto was the sister of the late Joseph, Jack and Teresa Victorino, Alice Joaquin, Emma Medeiros, Mary Santos and Sophie Gonsalves.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven. Interment in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 8, 2006 from 3-7 PM.
