Patricia A. (Smith) Gemme

NEW BEDFORD – Patricia A. (Smith) Gemme, 75, of New Bedford, died Friday, November 6, 2009, at the Oaks in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Richard P. Gemme. Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Lester and the late Annette (Deslongchamps) Smith, she lived most of her life in New Bedford.

A graduate of New Bedford High School, Pat worked as a teacher’s aide for over thirty years in the New Bedford Public School system. She was an avid reader and enjoyed socializing, going to lunch, and shopping with her friends. Mrs. Gemme was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.

She is survived by a son, Robert M. Gemme and his wife Patricia “Patty” of Taunton; three step-sons, Richard, David and Dana Gemme; two grandsons, Matthew and Danny; and several nieces and nephews to include, Susan Daigle of Florida. Mrs. Gemme was the sister of the late Charles and Joan.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, New Bedford, to which family and friends are invited to attend. Cremation will follow and all other arrangements will be private and under the direction of THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
