View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER – Manuel Teixeira, Jr., 85, of Fall River, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel Teixeira and the late Maria (Rodriques) Teixeira, he was the former husband of the late Pearl (Whitehead) Emerson.
Mr. Teixeira served his country during WWII with the United States Navy, serving with the Seabees. He worked as a union carpenter for many years. He was well known in the Newport area as the “Lobster Man,” for making lobster crafts, many of which are on display in several area taverns and shops.
Mr. Teixeira is survived by two sons, Kenneth B. Teixeira and his wife Bernie of Marlborough, CT, and Clifford E. Teixeira and his wife Jane of Bristol, RI; five grandchildren, Brent, Karen, Beth, Kenneth, and Scott; five great-grandchildren, Trevor, Chloe, Darren, Alex and Austin. He was the brother of the late Mary Jennings, and Arthur and John Teixeira.
Funeral Information
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 11:00AM in THE HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral service, from 10:00-11:00AM, in the funeral home.
