George H. Klemm

View Tribute and Sign Guestbook George H. Klemm, 86, of New Bedford died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Mary (Correia) Klemm.
Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Frederick and the late Mary (Houghton) Klemm, he lived most of his life in New Bedford, summering in Fairhaven.
Mr. Klemm was a graduate of Northeastern University and an electrical engineer for Bell Lab's for many years. Prior to that he was employed by the British and United States Governments during WWII in the development of modern RADAR. During the invasion of Normandy, he was instrumental in the jamming of the German RADAR rendering them unable to wage an air defense.
He is survived by two cousins, Shirley Noyes of Florida and Marilyn Hackney of Seattle, Washington; three great nieces, Carol Lewis, Linda Bryant and Nancy Miller; a great nephew, Noel Vander; two good friends, Gerald G. Delano and Joaquim T. Cardoso. Mr. Klemm was the cousin of the late Dorothy Vander.
Funeral Information
His graveside service will be Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 9:30 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford. Arrangements are by the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465
County Street, New Bedford.
