View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER – Thomas "Tippy" F. Larkin, 72, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Thomas S. and Marion (Powers) Larkin, he was the husband of Constance B. (Merritt) Larkin, with whom he shared thirty-eight years of married life.
A graduate with the Class of 1954 of BMC Durfee High School, Mr. Larkin worked at Pratt & Whitney for several years, after which he then started his own business with his wife, East Bay Photo & Arts in Bristol, which they ran together for years. Mr. Larkin also worked for Burns Saw in Fall River and Rockwell Power Tools as a repairman and salesman. Later he returned to college, where he earned his associate’s degree in general studies from Bristol Community College. From there he went on to graduate with a degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater State College.
Mr. Larkin then worked for the Freetown Elementary School as a third grade teacher for several years. He enjoyed traveling in his RV to Florida, woodworking, boating, golfing, camping, cycling, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Larkin leaves three sons, Michael T. Larkin and his wife Audrey of West Branch, MI, Timothy R. Larkin and his wife Virginia of Portsmouth, RI, and Jeremy J. Larkin of Fall River; five grandchildren, Brandon, Patrick, Courtenay, Benjamin, and Hannah.
Funeral Information
His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 10:00AM in the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 6, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
