Miriam D. Johnson

Miriam D. Johnson age 91 of Mansfield Avenue, Norton formerly a life long resident of Attleboro died Sunday, December 18, 2005 in the  Norwell  Knoll Nursing Home in Norwell, MA. She was  the wife of the late Aaron  Johnson who died in 1989. She was born in Attleboro on September 30, 1914 a daughter of the late  Ernest and Cynthia (Goff) Broadbent.

She was a 1932 graduate of Attleboro High School and a Bryant College Graduate  with the class of 1934. While in Attleboro High School she was a member of the Basketball team and  the class treasurer and continued as treasurer for many years  with the reunion committee. She had worked as  a secretary for the former  Makepeace Co. of Attleboro until she joined her late husband who was the owner of the former Johnson Decorating Co. of  Attleboro until his death. During that time she was chosen to be the Business and Professional Woman of the Year.  Mrs. Johnson was active in the  First Baptist Church of Attleboro having served as a Trustee, Deacon and Mission Committee Chairwoman and  represented the church in many Ecumenical functions.

She was  active in Girl Scouts and was a member of Troop One of Attleboro and a member of the Board of Directors of the Arnold Anderson House and a member of the Plymouth Bay Girl Scout Council and Camp Edith   Read. In later years she was an officer and trustee of the AARP of  Attleboro. She was an avid Bowler and Golfer. “She loved to be with people and brought energy and humor to every project with which she was involved. She used her Automobile for relationships and service to others.”

She leaves one sister Helen Broadbent  Hardy  and her husband Rev. Richard B. Hardy of  Peterborough, NH.  and their four children  whom she loved as her own. Paul M. Hardy, MD of Hingham, Betsy Perry of Ann  Arbor, MI, Priscilla Hardy of Harrisville, NH and Ruth Jacobson -Hardy of North Hampton,MA.  She also leave two cousins Louise Rounds Hinkley of Raynham, MA and George Rounds of  Belmont, NH.

Funeral Information

Her Funeral Service will be  held  on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 11 AM  officiated by Rev. Dr. John  Fisk  in the First  Baptist  Church of Attleboro, 118 South  Main St. Attleboro, MA. Burial will follow in the Family  Lot in  Oak Knoll Cemetery, Tremont St. Rehoboth. Relatives and friends  are invited to attend Calling  Hours, Monday, December 26, 2005 from 2 to 5 PM in  THE  FOLEY-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME,  126 South Main St. (Route 152), Attleboro.
