TAUNTON – Emily (Drozd) Pelczarski, 89, died suddenly Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Morton Hospital in Taunton. Born in Raynham, the daughter of the late Joseph and Salomea “Sally” (Janes) Drozd, she was the wife of the late Walter Pelczarski and the mother of the late Frank and William Pelczarski. She was sister of the late Monica Khorey, Helen Boucher and Stanley Drozd.

Mrs. Pelczarski worked for more than twenty years as a buyer for the former New York Lace Store, including duties as a Sales Associate in the Bridal Room. Upon retirement in 1990, at the age of 71, she performed volunteer work, which included six years at the New England Sinai Hospital, where she was recognized with several awards for dedicated service to the organization. As her eye-sight failed and she could no longer drive, she continued her volunteer work for many years at the Marian Manor Nursing Home.

A devoted mother, who cared deeply about her family, and as a communicant of Holy Rosary Church, she held strong devotion to her Catholic faith. She served as the first president of the Holy Rosary Sodality for twelve years, preformed duties at Holy Rosary which included being a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Building Committee, serving on the Parish Council and as functioning as a “Martha,” where she gave in excess of twenty-two years of work associated with the annual Polish Picnic. She was awarded the Marian Medal in 1972 by the Diocese of Fall River and was a life long member of the National Council of Catholic Women.

For Mrs. Pelczarski, life was her family, who included her daughter-in-law, Cindy (Meunier) Pleczarski of Taunton; her grandchildren, Brian Pelczarski and his wife Gena of Taunton and Laurie Ceruti and her husband Richard of Northbridge, MA; her great-grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Ceruti. She was the aunt of five.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Church, 80 Bay Street, Taunton, Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at 11:00AM. Visiting hours will be held, prior to the start of the Mass, Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 10:30AM in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, who are coordinating the arrangements. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
