Doris Seguin

View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Doris (Duchaine) Seguin, 92, of Fairhaven died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Alden Court Nursing Home. She was the widow of Conrad E. Seguin. They were married 41 years.
Born in New Bedford the daughter of the late Paul and Florida (Boucher) Duchaine she lived the last two years in Fairhaven.
She graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy and then Regis College in 1937. She attended Radcliffe and graduated from Harvard University with a Masterr's Degree in Romance Languages in 1939.
Mrs. Seguin taught for 24 years in the New Bedford School System. She received her certification in Special Education and taught in that field for 18 years at the Lincoln School. Mrs. Seguin was a member of the Massachusetts Retired Teacher's Association.
Mrs. Seguin was an avid reader who loved to read biographies. She enjoyed concerts and loved to go to the opera. She enjoyed traveling with her husband on overseas trips. She traveled with her daughter, Louise and her husband on one trip to Italy and on many trips with her family in the states.
She was a loving wife, mother and excellent teacher.
She is survived by three daughters, Louise D. Seguin of New Bedford, Madeleine Gobeil of Hawaii and Denise Lyonnais of Jacksonville, FL; one grandson, Joshua Gobeil of Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Dennis Lyonnais.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Duchaine and the late Noella A. Bolduc.
Funeral Information
According to her wishes visiting hours are omitted.
Funeral will be Monday, May 1, 2006 at 8:30 AM from the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima, 4256 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
