April 24, 1923 - September 19, 2005

Jeanne P.  Cannon age  82 of  Elmore Avenue, Woonsocket died Monday, September 19, 2005 in the Landmark Medical Center in  Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late former City Solicitor, Attorney M. Durkan Cannon who died November 16, 1996. She was  born in Minooka, PA on April 24, 1923 a daughter of the late Attorney James J. and  Mary M. (Boland) Powell.

She had lived in Woonsocket  for the pat 50 years since she married her late husband on August 13th, 1955 having previously grown up the youngest of eight children in PA where she attended Woodrow Wilson Grammar School, Minooka High School and Marywood College  graduating in 1944. She then taught Business at Minooka High School to 11th and 12th grade students for six years. She later moved to Washington DC and worked for five years as an Administrative Assistant to the  late Congressman Hal Holmes from the State of Washington. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of  Martyrs Church in Woonsocket.  

She leaves  three sons Mark D. Cannon and James R. Cannon both of Woonsocket  and Dr. Thomas C. and his wife  Kerena Anne Cannon of Little Rock, Arkansas. Two Grandchildren  Jennifer Jeanne-Marie Cannon and  Jessica Madonna Cannon both of Little Rock. One sister  Gertrude Gallagher of  Ivyland, PA and many nieces and nephews. She was  the sister  of the late Frances  Burke, Attorney James J. Powell II, Rosemary P. Walsh, Mary Grace Feeney, Richard Powell and Attorney Christopher T. Powell.

Funeral Information

Relatives  and friends are invited  to attend a  Mass of  Christian Burial  on Thursday, September 22, 2005 at 10 AM in Our Lady Queen of  Martyrs Church, 1409  Park Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Charles  Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Arrangements by THE MENARD  FUNERAL HOME, 127Carrington Avenue, Woonsocket.
