Henry Simbro Raposa, 84, of Columbia, MD, formerly of Fall River and Somerset, died Monday, September 12, 2005. He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Pereira) Raposa. Mr. Raposa was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1939. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. After WWII he returned to Fall River. He later moved to Somerset where he lived for several years. While living in Somerset he was a parishioner of St. John of God Church. In 1956 he moved to Bowie, Maryland, and later to Columbia, Maryland where he lived the remainder of his life. Mr. Raposa was a retired employee of the Washington, DC, Post Office. While working there he served as the representative for the FIRST DAY STAMPS ISSUE OFFICE. He oversaw the issuance of new stamps to the public, and in doing so traveled throughout all 50 states during his career. Survivors, include a daughter, Barbara Mongello, and her husband, Thomas, and two grand-children, Matthew and Kimberly Mongello, all of Columbia, Maryland. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph S. Raposa of Fall River, and several nieces and nephews, all of Fall River. Funeral InformationFuneral services and burial will be held in Maryland. |
