Manuel J. Tavares

Manuel J. Tavares, 67, died in Taunton on September 14, 2005 at his home.  Born in Cape Verde, a son of the late Ramiro and Cipriana (Varela) Tavares.  

Educated in Cape Verde, he was the chief of finance for the government of Cape Verde before moving to the US. He was a resident of Dorchester before moving to Taunton 1990. He was a salesman for the PrimAmerica Insurance Co. in the Boston Office.  

He was the husband of Maria A. (Oliveria) Tavares, he was the father of  13 ,grandfather of 19 and brother of 6 in Europe.  Even while in the area he remained active in Cape Verde politics.

Funeral Information

Visiting hours are on Friday, September 16, 2005 from 4-8PM and his funeral service will be in the Crapo-Hathaway Home for Funerals, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, MA, on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 10AM.  Interment will be in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton.
