Charles H. Bridge Jr.

August 11, 1925 - September 10, 2005

Charles H. Bridge Jr., 80, of North Lakeview Ave., Chicago, Illinois, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at home. Born on August 11, 1925, in Somerset, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Violet (Palmer) Bridge, Sr. He was a resident of Chicago for over 40 years. He had also resided in Detroit and New York City.

Mr. Bridge was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River. He was a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard University Law School. Mr. Bridge served in the United Sates Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater, and also served during the Korean War.
Mr. Bridge worked as attorney specializing in maritime law for many years with the American Arbitration Association. Early in his career he worked for the Horace Gray Law Firm in Boston.

He was a world traveler. He was a member of the Harvard Club of Chicago. He was an avid reader and linguist. He made a special study of the history, construction, and development of language throughout the world. He was devoted to his family.

Survivors include two sisters, Virginia Bridge, of Tiverton, RI, and Violet Blake, of Wilton, NH, three brothers, Ralph Bridge, of Portsmouth, RI, Bradford Bridge, of San Diego, CA, and Ronald Bridge, of Las Vegas, Nevada. 10 nephews and 1 niece. He is also survived by his longtime friend Peter Zanet of Chicago.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be Friday, September 16, 2005 at 1:00 pm in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Burial with will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton, RI. Calling hours are Friday, September 16, 2005 from 12-1 PM prior to the service.
