Lucille (Theroux) Maguire, 91, of New Bedford, died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the widow of Edward L. Maguire. Born October 27, 1913 in West Warwick, RI the daughter of the late Adolphe and Marie (Larivee) Theroux, she lived in New Bedford since the age of 14. She was a communicant of the former St. James Church now known as Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, New Bedford.

Mrs. Maguire worked as a winder tender for Berkshire Hathaway for 16 years as well as various other mills in the area. She retired in 1975 from Tabor Nursing Home where she worked as a housekeeper. Mrs. Maguire will be remembered for her devotion to her daughter and the special attention she gave to her daughter’s needs all her life. She was very caring toward people in need and she enjoyed knitting.

She is survived by two sons, Edward J. Maguire and his wife Cynthia of Fairhaven and John A. Maguire and his wife JoAnn of New Bedford; two daughters, Kathleen Leyva of Radondo Beach, CA and Lucille C. Maguire of New Bedford; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Walter Theroux, the late Delia Riley, and the late Viola Prospiere.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Thursday, September 15, 2005 at 10:00 AM from the Donaghy-Hathaway Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, New Bedford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 14, 2005 from 5-8 PM.
