View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Doris E. (Entwistle) Baldwin, 78, of Swansea Mall Drive, Swansea, died Friday, August 26, 2005 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of the late Wm. Earle Baldwin. Born on December 10, 1926, in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary E. (Hill) Entwistle.
Mrs. Baldwin was a graduate of Case High School in Swansea. She worked for the Cherry & Webb Company for several years. She then worked for the Town of Swansea and retired as the Assistant Treasurer in the late 1970’s. She then worked for 10 years at Newport Hospital in Newport, RI. Following her retirement from the hospital, Mrs. Baldwin and her late husband enjoyed fulltime RVing throughout the United States for nine years.
She was a longtime active member of the First Christian Congregational Church in Swansea. She volunteered many hours to the church and served in many capacities including Assistant Treasurer of the Thrifty Shop, and the We Help Others (WHO) organization. She was a member of the Oakwood Seniors Club in Swansea. She volunteered at Morton Hospital in Taunton for several years and was honored as volunteer of the month. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, playing bingo, and going on many trips with her fellow members in the seniors club.
Survivors include two sons, David E. Baldwin, and his wife, Loretta of Middleboro, and Russell L. Baldwin, and his wife Patricia, of Tewksbury. A brother, Henry L. Entwistle, of Somerset, four grandchildren, Christopher Baldwin, Annmarie Baldwin, Jennifer Brazeau, and Cynthia Voegeli, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late June C. Campbell.
Funeral Information
Her funeral service will be Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours with video photo album are Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 5-8 PM.
