Edith L. (Primo) Janicki, 92, formerly of Canal St., Fall River, died Monday, August 22, 2005 at the Kimwell Nursing home in Fall River. She was the wife of the late Joseph Janicki, Sr., who died in 1999. Born on June 5, 1913, in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Enrico and Theresa (Stabino) Primo. She was a lifelong resident of the city.

Mrs. Janicki worked as the manager of the candy department at Edgar’s Department Store in Fall River for many years before retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of the Church of the Ascension in Fall River. She was a member of the King Philip Settlement House, and the Past President of the Sunshine Club at Edgar’s’ Dept. Store in Fall River. She served for several years as a den mother with the Cub Scout Pack 5 at Sunset Hill. She enjoyed participating in various activities with the seniors group on Canal St., and also enjoyed plastic canvass making.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Torres, of Somerset, a son, Joseph Janicki, Jr., of Davenport, Iowa, a brother, Enricio Primo, of Fall River, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She as the mother of the late Shirley Gayoski. She was the sister of the late Henry Primo, Carolyn Turrianni, Louise Medeiros, Helen Sullivan, Mary Golden, Camilla Roberts, and Anna Logshaw.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend her funeral service Friday, August 26, 2005 at 10:00 am in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. Caling hours are Thursday, August 25, 2005 from 4-8 PM.
