George D. Marshall Jr.

July 12, 1922 - August 20, 2005

George D. Marshall Jr. 83, of Coleman Street in Swansea passed away Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Facility in Fall River. He was the husband of Anita (Remy) Francoeur-Marshall and the late Ada J. (Roe) Marshall.

Born in Fall River, MA on July 12, 1922 the son of the late George D. Marshall Sr. and Estelle (Orton) Marshall he was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School and then served his country during WWII with the United States Army, after the War he worked as a truck driver for the former Gamache & Middle Atlantic Trucking Company in Fall River and Connecticut for several years. Mr. Marshall then Went back to school to earn his certificate in digital computers from Quincy Vocational Technical College in 1975, after earning his degree he went to work for Instron Company in Canton, Ma as a shipping manager for 28 years retiring in 1987. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Fall River for many years and also the King Phillip Lodge of Masons and a past treasurer, a member of the Fall River Rod & Gun Club, VFW Bristol Post, American Legion in Swansea, he was the past treasurer of the Instron Credit Union in Canton, a former board member at the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Facility in Fall River, he was an avid hunter and enjoyed sailing.
Survivors beside his wife are four sons Ronald G. Marshall and Eric T. Marshall both of Richmond, Indiana Steven L. Marshall of Westport, MA Robert J. Marshall of Wazzu, Oklahoma a sister E. Anne Pacheco of Fall River, Ma fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was the father of the late George D. Marshall III and brother of the late Florence Moss.

Funeral Information

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 10am in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery Fall River. Calling hours with a video photo album are Tuesday, August 23, 2005 from 4-7pm.
