John "Jack" F. Kineavy

June 02, 1923 - August 18, 2005

John "Jack" F. Kineavy., 82, of Perron Ave., in Somerset passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 18, 2005. He was the husband of Constance (Otis) Kineavy and the husband of the late Wanda D. (Ordon) Kineavy.

Born in Allston, MA on June 2, 1923 the son of the late John T. and Catherine (Clancy) Kineavy, he was a graduate of Boston Latin High School class of 1941, and then went on to graduate from Boston College with a bachelors degree in History in 1945, while at Boston College he also was a member of the Baseball Team. He then served his country during WWII with the United States Navy he received the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic pacific One Star, Philippine Liberation, world war II victory medal. After the war he attended Harvard University and graduated with a masters degree in Education. Mr. Kineavy then went to work for the Somerset School department as a History and Latin teacher at the high school and the head Baseball coach at the high school for several years, he then went to work for the Barrington School department at the high school as a history teacher and eventually became vice principal, he then went to work for the Dartmouth school department at the High School as the principal for fourteen years he retired in 1985.

He was a football official for the former ECAC and officiated two Army vs. Navy games, he also officiated for the college bowl games such as the Gator Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Peach Bowl, and the Hall of Fame Bowl, he also was a former TV liaison for Boston College Football, he was a communicant of Saint Thomas More Church in Somerset and an inductee of the Boston Latin High School Hall of Fame and the Somerset High School Hall of Fame, he was also a committee member for the Somerset High School Hall of Fame.

Survivors beside his wife Constance (Otis) Kineavy are three daughters Holly A. Tattersall of Somerset, MA Jane Otis Connolly of Wellesley, MA Marilyn Otis Boss of Hingham, MA two sons Stephen M. Kineavy and John B. Kineavy both of Somerset, MA and ten grandchildren.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 9am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Thomas More Church 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow with Military Honors in Gethsemane Cemetery West Roxbury, MA. Calling hours with video photo albur are Sunday, AUgust 21, 2005 from 4-7pm.
