View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Mario "Armand" Joaquim, 79, of Fairhaven died Tuesday, August 9, 2005 in St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Laura R. (Oliveira) Joaquim of Fairhaven. They had been married for 56 years.
Born May 31, 1926 in Fall River, the son of the late Antone and Anna (Ferreira) Joaquim, he lived most of his life in Fall River before moving to Fairhaven 14 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven.
Mr. Joaquim worked as a school custodian in Fall River. He spent most of his time, just prior to his retirement, working at the Small School. He loved fishing, gardening, drawing and painting, playing cards and he also enjoyed wood working.
He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Maryann Szklany and her husband Attorney Stanley Szklany of Fairhaven; a brother, Edward Joaquim of Somerset; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph and William Joaquim.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be Monday, August 15, 2005 at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven. Interment will be in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours are Sunday, August 14, 2005 4-7 PM.
