Peter B. Sabra, 85 of Seymour Ave., in Somerset passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the Clifton Skilled Nursing Care Center in Somerset he was the husband of fifty seven years to Eliza (Joao) Sabra. Born in Fall River, MA on June 14, 1920 the son of the late Samuel M. and Adma (Hajjar) Sabra, he was a gradute of BMC Durfee High School class of 1938 he then went on to attend the Thibodeau Businees school in Fall River, he then worked for the former Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in Fall River and then went to serve his country during WWII with the United States Army with the 88th infantry stationed in Italy he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantry Badge. After the War he was employed as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service for thirty seven years starting in Fall River and eventually working for many years in Somerset he retired in 1984. While working for the Postal service he also started his own business part time the Peter B. Sabra Real Estate Agency in 1967 located in Somerset he went to work full time at his business once he retired from the Post office in 1984. Mr. Sabra was a Library Trustee for the Town of Somerset for four years and then was elected the Town Selectman in Somerset to which he served for eight years. He was a manager for many years in the 1960’s for the Pierce division little league in Somerset, chairman and member of the Fall River Postal Employee’s Credit Union, treasurer of the National Association of letter carriers, member of the Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post James and John E. Lynch Post #8500 in Somerset, the National Association of Realtors, National Association of retired federal employee’s. Survivors beside his wife of fifty seven years are a daughter Jayne Kelly of Portsmouth, RI a son Atty. Steven P. Sabra of Somerset, MA four sisters Rita Delisle, Janet Remillard, Clara Tierney all of Somerset, MA and Salva Hazlett of Brockton, MA five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Victoria Perry, and James M. Sabra. Funeral InformationHis funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 9am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Thomas More Church 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow with MILITARY HONORS in Nathan Slade Cemetery Somerset. Calling hours with video photo album are Tuesday, August 9, 2005 from 4-8pm.
