Claude Z. "Chick" LaBreche, 83, of Woonsocket, died Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Renaud) LaBreche, who died in 2004. Born on March 4, 1922, in St. Michel, Quebec, Canada, he was a son of the late Alfred J. and Leoine (DeLorme) LaBreche. He came to Woonsocket as a child and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Mr. LaBreche was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. LaBreche worked at the Taft-Pierce Manufacturing Company for over 35 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. LaBreche also worked at the Mount St. Charles High School arena for over 30 years. He was a member of the former Mt. St. Charles Booster club. He was an avid fan of the Mt. St. Charles hockey team and was a staunch supporter of the team for many years. Mr. LaBreche was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Woonsocket. He was a member of the Woonsocket American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by two sisters, Alfreda Peloquin, and Jeannette Guilbert, both of Woonsocket, and several nieces and nephews, including Richard A. LaBreche, of Woonsocket. He was the brother of the late L’Omer LaBreche, Doria LaBreche, Roger LaBreche, and Gustave LaBreche, and the late Sr. Claire Marie LaBreche, RJM, and the late Sr. Doris LaBreche, RJM.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be Monday, August 8, 2005 at 9:00 am from Menard's Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean de Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Calling hours are Sunday, August 7, 2005 from 6-8 PM.
