Bertha J. (Quilitzsch) MacDonald, 93, formerly of Pleasant St., Norton, died Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Willard S. MacDonald, who died in 1979. Born on January 1, 1912, in Hartford, CT, she was a daughter of the late Frederick W. and Pauline J. (Schmidt) Quilitzsch. Mrs. MacDonald came to Attleboro as a child and was raised and attended school in Attleboro. She lived in Norton for over 45 years. She also resided at Christopher Heights in Attleboro for several years.

Mrs. MacDonald worked for the former Edward H. Morse Co. in Attleboro for many years. She also worked for several years at both the R.F. Simmons Co. in Attleboro, and the H&H Products Co. in North Attleboro. Mrs. MacDonald was one of oldest members of the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro. She was a member for over 80 years, and devoted countless hours to the church, serving as a volunteer with the Service Circle. She was also active with the Hope Chapter # 41 of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a member for over 40 years. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and in her later years, took great joy in devoting herself to her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie J. Zumalt, of Norton, a brother, Herbert H. Quilitzsch, of Cumberland, RI, three grand-children, Todd Jones, of Norton, Brett Jones, of North Attleboro, and Hollie Zumalt, of Norton, a great-granddaughter, Kiara Jones, of Norton, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frederick W. Quilitzsch and the late Carl G. Quilitzsch.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend her funeral service Friday, August 5, 2005 at 11:00 am in the COOK CHAPEL of the Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, 160 Park Street, Attleboro (Rte. 118). Burial will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, North Main St., Attleboro, (Rte. 152). Calling hours are Thursday, August 4, 2005 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
