June 20, 1925 - July 18, 2005

Russell E. Teasdale., 80, of Garfield Ave., in Somerset, where he lived for fifty years, passed on Monday, July 18, 2005 at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of fifty four years to Estelle A. (Mackey) Teasdale.

Born in Fall River, MA on June 20, 1925, the son of the late Thomas and Mary Jane. (Rutter) Teasdale, he was a gradute of BMC Durfee High School class of 1943, after graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and was sent to the University of Michigan to study, after being discharged at the end of WWII, he finished his bachelors of science degree at Indiana State University in 1947 and returned to the New England area.

Mr. Teasdale began his career in education as a teacher at the Pottersville Elementary School in Somerset, while teaching he attended and eventually graduated from Bridegwater State College with a masters degree in education. He then became principal of the Pottersville elementary school, and then the elementary school supervisor for the town of Somerset, and retired in 1980 as the assistant superintendent of the Somerset school department after thirty two years.

He was an active member of Christ Church in Swansea, a past head of vestry for the church of Our Saviour in Somerset, a past treasurer of the Bristol County Retired Teachers Association, a past president of the Somerset Teachers club, a past associate of Charlton Memorial Hospital, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He also was a member f several other retired teachers organizations.

He was an avid reader and Boston Red Sox Fan. He enjoyed gardening, but most important was spending time with his family at their camp on Thomas Pond in Raymond, Maine where he spent many hours reading, fishing, swimming, and playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors beside his wife are two daughters Nancy A. Teasdale of Somerset, MA Mary E. Thorp of Yarmouth, Maine a brother Rev. Calvin T. Teadale of Fort Dodge, Iowa three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Kenneth R. Teasdale.
