Gil L. Amancio

March 10, 1951 - June 16, 2005

Gil L. Amancio, 54, of Harbor Rd., Swansea, died Thursday at home. He was the husband of Patricia (Montgomery) Amancio.

Born on March 10, 1951, in Providence, RI, he was a son of Blanche (Priest) (Amancio) Ayash of Fall River, and the late Gil F. Amancio. He was raised in Fall River, and resided in Somerset for over 20 years, before moving to Swansea.
Mr. Amancio worked for Haddad Electronics in Fall River as a radio technician for over 20 years.

He was the regional director of the New England Atheist Chapter. He was well-known as a DJ for several local AM radio stations, including WSAR, and WBSM. For several years he had his own radio talk show, The American Atheist. He enjoyed radio repair, loved music, and was an avid reader.

Survivors include a son, Henry A. Amancio, of Fall River, two daughters, Christie Amancio, of Fall River, and Jessica Dastous, of Fall River, A granddaughter, Sarah Vezina, of Tiverton, RI, and many relatives, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a gathering in celebration of Gil’s life Saturday at 10:00 am at White’s of Westport, 66 State Rd., Rte. 6, Westport. Arrangements are by the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA.
