William H.F. Laberee

August 14, 1912 - May 27, 2005

William H.F. Laberee., 92, of Edgehill Rd., in Swampscott passed away on Friday May 27, 2005 at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA he was the husband of the late Jeanie (Hyslop) Laberee.

Born in Pictu, Nova Scotia on Aug. 14, 1912 the son of the late Walter and Henriette (Currie) Laberee he was a graduate of Sudbury High School 1930 he then went on to attend Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA

Mr. Laberee worked for the former Eastern Airlines as a freight agent for over 30 years retiring in 1977. In prior years he worked for McManus Ice Cream, H.P. Hood & Son, Raytheon and as an electrician with friend Ed Stone. After retirement he worked for Captain Jack’s Seaside Inn in Swampscott.

Mr. Laberee enjoyed gardening and loved animals. He was a talented artist at caricatures and sketching. Mr. Laberee was particularly proud of his Scottish heritage.

He was a veteran of WWII where he served with the United States Army Air Corps 397 Bomb group and as an airplane mechanic for B-26’s and a flight chief for the 598th squadron. During that tine he served in Normandy, Northern France, Air Offensive Europe, the Rhineland, Ardennes and in Central Europe. At the time of his discharge he was a master sergeant.

Survivors are a daughter Jane Anne H. Laberee of Dover, NH two sisters Catherine McDonald of Gastonia, NC Edith Thornton of Huntington, NY also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late John Laberee and Marion Quevedo.

A graveside service with MILITARY HONORS will be held on Friday June 24, 2005 at 1pm in Oak Grove Cemetery Fall River (Prospect Street Entrance) Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
