View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Manuel A. Raposa, Jr., 84, died Friday, February 11, 2005 in Our Lady’s Haven. He was the husband of Rita A. (Sirois) Raposa.
Born April 21, 1920 in Dartmouth the son of the late Manuel A. and Mary (Pacheco) Raposa, he lived most his life in Fairhaven. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven.
Mr. Raposa served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He later became the owner and operator of Raposa’s Texaco Station until 1978. Mr. Raposa was a member of the American Legion Post 166 in Fairhaven, the VFW of Fairhaven, and the New Bedford Elk’s #73 B.P.O.E. He enjoyed traveling with his loved ones.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, John G. Hanrahan and his wife Kathy of Dartmouth and Steven G. Hanrahan and his wife Jane of Lakeville; a daughter, Joyce Bergeron and her husband Roger of Freetown; a brother, John Raposa of Cambridge; a sister, Irene Moniz of Fairhaven; three grandchildren, Kerry Lynch of Fairhaven, Lisa Curzinski of Dartmouth, and Lori Hanrahan of Miami, FL; two great grandchildren, Kaylin Lynch and Liam Lynch; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Tony Raposa, Elsie Wacaser, and Rose Cunha. Mr. Raposa was the grandfather of the late Sarah Hanrahan.
Funeral Information
According to his wishes he was cremated. His graveside service will be Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, MA. Following the service, the family would like to invite everyone to the Century House, 107 S. Main Street, Acushnet for a time of fellowship and refreshment.
